After picking up Grandma Vicki from the airport yesterday, we dropped by Birmingham-Southern College to stretch our legs, change a diaper, and nibble on clementines.
Upon roaming the campus, we found a star on the map labelled "Ecoscape"- a destination.
Max counts as the girls and Grandma Vicki scamper to hide.
The metal sculptures and winding trails delighted the kids, who quickly realized that the Ecoscape was an ideal place for a good game of hide-and-go-seek.
As we savored the scattered mosaics, Grandma Vicki and I felt a plan begin to hatch- a plan that involves old thrift store plates, a hammer, and a bag of cement on the Coryell Castle grounds.
Returning to Tuscaloosa led to extended play with tangrams and tessellations. I took photos of the kids' designs and we decided to try and use a few for our mosaic-in-the-making. Tangram pieces are excellent tools for experimenting with mosaic patterns.
